Suburban Chamber Foundation

Our Foundation is a fully qualified 501c(3) tax exempt foundation under IRS rules. Formed in 1981 to help our communities in their business charitable activities, the Foundation has a number of standing projects and activities.

Vest A Cop -- Every police officer in Summit, New Providence and Berkeley Heights receives a $450 allowance towards their first bullet-proof vest. Replacement vests are part of the municipal uniform allowance. To date over 200 vests have been donated.

Berkeley Heights Scholarship -- ihe Suburban Chamber of Commerce awards a $1,500 scholarship to a local high school senior each year.

Perry Root / William Stampes Scholarship -- in honor of two late Summit retailers a $1,500 award is made to a graduating senior of Summit High School.

New Providence Scholarship is also awarded in the amount of $1500 to a graduating New Providence High School Senior.

The Foundation is proud to partner with a number of great local charities, such as the Rotary Club of Berkeley Heights, the United Way and others in support of various causes and initiatives.

Funding for the Foundation comes from: 

  • Annual Contributions from Members of the Chamber -- All contributions are fully tax-exempt Area residents are also welcome to make contributions.
